A beauty salon proprietor whose husband had been diagnosed with cancer was found dead inside a home in the Washington suburbs after he allegedly used a hose to spray his wife with an antibiotic, authorities said.
The homeowner had been in a relationship with the husband, D.D. C. Johnson, since 2010, but his wife was not present at the time, police said Monday.
Police said the homeowner called police Monday to report that Johnson sprayed her with an “anesthetic” that he had purchased in the past.
The man’s name has not been released.
Police say they found Johnson’s body inside the home on a couch in the 4200 block of Bancroft Road on Monday afternoon.
Johnson was charged with murder, attempted murder, assault and endangering the welfare of a child and is being held in the DuPont County Jail on $1 million bond.
His wife was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.
Johnson has a history of mental illness and reportedly suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Police are also looking into possible drug and alcohol abuse.
Johnson and his wife have been married since 2010.
